Leading city hotel, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, has appointed highly experienced hotelier, Christopher Wichlan, as Hotel Manager, in a bid to further strengthen its impressive team.
With an extensive background of 18 years in hotel operations management in luxury hotel brands and convention hotels in the United States, Vietnam and the Philippines, US-national Mr Wichlan comes to the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur following three years at the InterContinental Manila.
During this time in which he fully immersed himself in the global leading city hotel brand, Mr Wichlan moved through the ranks at the distinguished property, which won the TTG Travel Awards Best City Hotel Philippines for three consecutive years, leaving the position of Resident Manager to move to Kuala Lumpur.
His strong familiarity with the hotel brand also saw him drafted in to work as part of the soft opening team at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort in the position of Resort Manager in late 2012.
As Hotel Manager, he will report directly to InterContinental Kuala Lumpur General Manager, Phil Riley.

Previous to joining InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, which has 170 hotels in over 60 countries worldwide, Mr Wichlan worked with luxury hotel brand Hyatt for fifteen years in the US, based in San Francisco, California where he was Director of Rooms at the 313-room Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf.
Prior to this, he worked in executive management positions at hotels including Hyatt Regency Suites, Palm Springs, California and Hyatt Charlotte, Charlotte, North Carolina, where is he was Director of Operations at both properties – previous to which he was with the Grand Hyatt in Washington DC and Grand Hyatt in San Francisco.
Mr Wichlan has distinguished professional credentials that saw him attend California State University and receive tailor made hospitality management experience from the IHG Revenue Academy and the IHG Leadership Coaching Workshop.
