Emirates Airlines has begun direct flights from Dubai to Taipei, with the first flight taking off from Dubai International Airport yesterday.
The Emirates Taiwan service is a Boeing 777-300R and possesses private suites in first class, 42 flat lie seats in business class and extra room for those in economy class.
The flight was greeted by the traditional water cannon salute and passengers were welcomed by senior executives from the Emirates Group.
“Dubai and Taipei are very similar, both are important trading hubs and today’s link will help to build on bilateral trade," Emirates Airline & Group chairman and chief executive Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said.
"We have been working hard to promote Taipei across our network and I am confident that the influx of business and leisure passengers will continue to grow."
