More than 2,000 people gathered in Dubai Media City Amphitheatre last night for the very first Blended, a two day music event bringing together a blend of musical genres such as blues, roots, jazz, soul and folk with some of the world’s biggest names in music.
The event, which officially kicked off on Thursday, has been a huge success and is set to become an annual fixture on Dubai’s event calendar.
Thursday saw Aussie musical legend Xavier Rudd take to the stage with accompanied by various guitars, didgeridoos and percussion, followed by headline act, UK mega talent Joss Stone, who got the crowd grooving to her soulful tunes.
Friday night was a mellower, yet highly anticipated affair, with music giants Elvis Costello and Diana Krall entertaining the crowd with their unique musical styles, which is the first time the couple have ever shared the stage together.
Costello performed an impressive solo act which saw him on guitar, electric guitar and keyboard, as he performed a series of his best songs, including crowd favourite “She” from the movie Notting Hill.
His wife of 11 years, Diana Krall, took to the stage after, entertaining the cheering crowd with her jazz piano skills, accompanied by an outstanding band on guitar, bass and percussion, as well as her famous smoky vocal range.
Krall and Costello followed a fantastic line up of supporting acts including Irish talent and rising star Maverick Sabre, who has been taking the UK by storm.
A hot and balmy night, the concert goers seemed in high spirits as they enjoyed a brilliant line up of musical talent as well as food, drinks, fashion and jewellery stalls as well as a pop up bar by the lake.
