  ::Astudo Supports Cochlear Implant Operations::

The money raised by Astudo Hotel & Resort Group from the 17th Thailand Discovery & Discovery World Exhibition was donated to the Foundation of the Deaf Under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen on Tuesday 17 November 2009.

Business Development Manager of Astudo, Mr Sorathep Rojpotjanaruch and his team spent the day at the foundation getting to know the deaf children who would benefit from the money presented by Astudo to the foundation. Ms. Maliwan Tammasaeng, the chairperson of the foundation explained that the money raised will go towards helping fund cochlear implants in deaf children and help run the boarding school for the deaf in Bangkok of which 217 deaf student attend.

Currently the Thai government provides limited support to children needing a cochlear implant as the technology is very expensive. The foundation was established to help this group of unfortunate children be able to improve their lives and one aspect of the foundation raises money to provide financial support to the children who require this technology to be able to hear.

Other areas that the foundation are involved in include sponsoring deaf students to further their education through a scholarship program that allows them to attend university, provide support programs for parents to learn to communicate through sign language, teacher training in other South East Asian countries to improve the quality of education for the deaf students and assistance in job placement for deaf people.

Ms. Tammasaeng explained that any donations, no matter the amount goes a long way and that they rely on people within the community for support to ensure the foundation can continue to help as many people in the future as it has in  the past.
