Shrek wows audience on opening night at Venetian Macao
Produced by Broadway Entertainment Group FZ LLC and NETworks Presentations, LLC., and supported by The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government, the world-class production SHREK THE MUSICAL opened tonight. The Macao season will run for 21 performances at The Venetian Theatre of The Venetian Macao until Aug. 7, 2016. A highlight for the Macao season is the inclusion of three local young stars who were chosen to play the role of a “Young Shrek”. Tickets for the remaining shows can be purchased from all Cotai Ticketing box offices.
“Sands China is thrilled to bring this popular Broadway show SHREK THE MUSICAL to Macau. Our goal is to support the government’s vision of Macao as a leading tourism and leisure destination by bringing world class entertainment such as this to Macao. We also wanted to support the community by offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for three local talents to shine and be on stage alongside seasoned Broadway performers.” said Dave Horton, Global Chief Marketing Officer, Las Vegas Sands Corp. & Sands China Ltd. “SHREK THE MUSICAL also complements our existing long-term partnership with DreamWorks at Sands Cotai Central; the show adds another dimension to the DreamWorks Experience where guests can enjoy the new Po’s Kung Fu Feast, and also meet DreamWorks characters in the All-Star parade.”
SHREK THE MUSICAL is based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks Animation film that started it all. This live adaptation brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to the stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey that does not keep quiet, a villain with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand and his name is Shrek.
