On Wednesday 27 October over 150 music fans, members of the media and VIPs, including Director of Baidu, Inc. Kaiser Kuo, E! Entertainment Asia host Dominic Lau, and Ocean Vista films CEO Craig Leeson attended the second edition of The Pawn’s regular ‘Pawn to Rock’ gig.

Held at the legendary heritage venue, The Pawn, and hosted by Nisha Parmanand and Tanya Bennett, this monthly event sees local CEOs transform from buttoned-up execs to
loose-cannon Rock Gods.

Building on the success of the ‘Pawn to Rock’ launch in September, this second edition featured three ready-to-rock bands.

‘Black Mariah’, formed by Gabriel Comes, Regional CEO of AXA Assistance, kicked things off with a set of chart-topping covers and original tunes followed by ‘The Ones’,
fronted by local celebrity David Harilela, CEO of Harilela George Ltd.

The headline act of the evening was ‘Hard Core’, consisting of five members, including Tony Tyler, Cathay Pacific CEO, and Standard Chartered Bank Head of Credit Initiation
Peter Brookes. Playing a mix of crowd-pleasing covers and self-penned originals, ‘Hard Core’ stayed true to their name.

Mark the calendar for Wed, 17 November when an all-new group of Senior Execs face the music. As ‘Pawn to Rock’ continues to grow, the November edition will feature four
new groups, each one with high-profile CEO.

The lineup for the November gig will be:

‘Operator’ – With Ben Robinson (guitar/lead vocals), Vix Pena (guitar/ backing vocals), Marc Greiner (bass guitar) and Jon Lee (drums/backing vocals).

‘Donner und Blitzen’ – With Jay Parmanand (drums), Rachel Duffell (guitar), Sean Fitzpatrick (bass), Diana d’Arenberg (vocals) and Craig Bramley (guitar).

‘Bus Uncle’ – With Andrew Skinner (lead singer), John McLean (lead guitar), Michael Pepper (bass guitar), Bill Amos (drums) and Simon Copley (keyboards).

‘Out of the Box’ – With Steve Bernstein (Mandolin/Guitar/Vocals), Jim Ollson (Lead Guitar), Calvin Wong (Bass) and Babatunji Heath (Drums).

The next ‘Pawn to Rock’ event is scheduled for Wed, November 17, 2010 from 9pm.
