THAI named “Best Deal of the Year” in Asset Asian Awards 2010

   
     
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) successfully builds investor confidence through its induction to the MSCI index through its improved financial performance and status from operations and the public offering of 484 million new shares in September 2010. The Asset Magazine of Asia named THAI Best Deal of the Year 2010 in Thailand.

Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, said that THAI was highly successful in selling new shares in September 2010, due to a great interest from existing shareholders and individual investors having high confidence in the Company resulting from improved operating results over 2009. This enabled THAI to raise substantial funds that lead to Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) reincluding THAI in its index during the second week of November 2010 that is a benchmark for international investors, putting THAI shares amongst 1,500 globally recognized companies. Additionally, the well-respected financial magazine for Asia, The Asset, has named THAI as Best Deal of the Year in Thailand in the Asset Asian Awards 2010, whose distribution is to leaders of the financial industry and has its own social network for financial industry executives, The Asset Network.

Thai Airways International, the national carrier of Thailand, is a registered company in the Stock Exchange of Thailand, and is a founding member of the Star Alliance network. THAI has been operating for 50 years, with its home base in Bangkok, flying to domestic and international destinations.

THAI’s recent public offering was managed and consulted by Morgan Stanley, Finansa Public Company Limited, and Phatra Securities Public Company Limited. The capital raised from the public offering will increase THAI’s financial strength and flexibility, improve competitiveness of THAI’s fleet by executing comprehensive re-fleeting and aircraft retrofit programs. THAI aims to achieve the highest service quality for customers, and to become more competitive through effective business model, operational efficiency and financial strength, the company is looking to be one of the top three airlines in Asia and top five in the world.
