Hilton Brisbane wins the trifecta
Hilton Brisbane, has taken home the win in three categories at the prestigious 2017 QHA Awards for Excellence on 4 October.
The hotel was recognised as winners and industry leaders in Best Environmental Practice, Outstanding Community Service & Achievement 100+ Employees, and Outstanding Achievement in Training. The hotel were also finalists in the Best Employee award – Administration, and Best Meetings & Events Venue categories.

Presented at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, the QHA awards are held annually to publically recognise individual and group achievements in the Queensland Hotel industry across 44 categories, and Hilton Brisbane was proud to take home the trifecta:
- Best Environmental Practice – Hilton Brisbane has a number of key initiatives in place to give Team Members the opportunity to make a positive impact on their local community. From an internal war on waste, ensuring smart recycling, reducing landfill through Soap Aid and working with charity partners to rehouse and repurpose – such as Givit Vinnies and Oz Harvest; to the rooftop Eco Centre which houses a herb garden, over 50,000 honey bees to pollinating Brisbane while also producing over 200 kg of honey for guests to enjoy.
- Outstanding Community Service & Achievement 100+ Employees – Hilton Brisbane has served the wider community for many years and this tradition is embedded in the culture of the hotel. The foundation for the care of the community is built on Hilton’s vision, to fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality – and this flows beyond their doors to the community at large. Hilton Brisbane has long-term community partners including Oz Harvest, The McIntrye Centre (RDA), the Smith Family, Vinnies, (St Vincent de Paul) Ronald McDonald House, and Soap Aid.
- Outstanding Achievement in Training – Hilton Brisbane believes the foundation of career growth stems from a strong learning and development culture. It is about attracting, retaining and developing talent for Hilton hotels both in Brisbane and abroad. The hotel offers Hilton branded training from foundation to executive level, including Women in Leadership and Mindful Leadership training. Additionally, in 2017, the hotel increased their momentum to offer nationally recognised qualifications.
This recognition from QHA follows a recent National accolade with Hilton Australia placing third in the 2017 Great Places to Work Study, where Hilton was recognised for its leading practices and programmes that shape such a strong Team culture.
