The guidebook publishers have begun moving content to the application, allowing users to download information on various countries including, Paris, London, Amsterdam and Rome, HolidayLettings reported.
Rough Guides said other regions including Barcelona and Berlin will be added to the portable guide next year.
Unlike a traditional travel book, Whatser interact with users suggesting places to visit and allowing connection to social networks.
The feature is available for one year free for users who sign up before 31 December.
