The results were ranked according to booking dollars yielded per listed accommodation provider, incorporating both domestic and international reservation sites.
According to the report, only those booking sites listing at least 500 of the 3000 Australian accommodation providers that use SiteMinder as a distribution and channel manager were included in the ranking process.
Wotif received pole position in the ranks, followed in descending order by Booking.com, Expedia, Agoda, Orbitz, My Bookings (Entertainment Publications), Qantas Ready Rooms, RatesToGo, Travelocity and Venere.
SiteMinder online channel analyst Duncan Waterman noted the rapid rise of international sites in the Australian market.
“They [international booking websites] have recorded the fastest growth in overall bookings across the SiteMinder customer base in the last two years.
“The acceleration in bookings from these sites is outstripping some of the local online players who unfortunately haven’t capitalised effectively on their early entrance into the market,” he said.
