Contours Travel offers $4000 off per couple
Contours Travel – the longest-running Latin American tour operator in Australia – is offering a $4000 saving per couple on its new ‘Antarctica, Patagonia and Beyond’ small group tours for bookings made before January 31, 2018.
The discount will help Australians immerse themselves in the wilderness of the Antarctic Peninsula, the southern landscapes of Patagonia, and other bucket-list South American destinations such as Buenos Aires and Iguazu Falls. The offer is valid for two departure dates – with a 28-night tour departing October 28, 2018, and a 26-night tour departing February 22, 2019.
Both tours begin with a visit to a Chilean winery in Santiago, Chile, and move south to Punta Arenas, in Patagonia, where guests will join a traditional barbecue at a countryside ‘estancia’. Four nights will be spent at a deluxe lodge inside Torres del Paine National Park, renowned for its huge glaciers and soaring peaks. Guests can choose to walk, drive or ride through the area on horseback, spotting animals such as guanacos, pumas, foxes and condors.
Another highlight is a full day tour to Patagonia’s Perito Moreno Glacier, a frozen river 37 km long, 5km wide and up to 60m high.
Guests will then board the expedition ship, Akademik Ioffe, for a round-trip voyage from Ushuaia to Antarctica. During the cruise, guests can take part in camping onshore, snowshoeing, trekking, zodiac cruising and whale watching. Photography enthusiasts can take part in an all-day field workshop with the expedition’s photographer, while nature lovers can enjoy watching penguins early in the migration season, as they busy reestablish their rookeries and prepare nests. On the Antarctica cruise, guests will have the use of purpose-designed expedition gear free of charge to explore the great white continent in comfort and safety. The cruise is usually 10-nights’ long but the tour from October 28, 2018, will include two extra nights on Antarctic waters.
Back in Ushuaia, guests will fly to Buenos Aires for two nights to enjoy a tango dinner show and explore the city before flying out to Iguazu Falls – one of the world’s largest waterfalls – for another two nights before flying home to Australia from Buenos Aires.
Including flights from Australia, the 28-night tour, departing Australia on October 28, 2018, is available from $26,840 per person, twin-share, including the $2000 discount. The 26-night tour, departing Australia on February 22, 2019, is available from $25,850 per person, twin-share, including the $2000 discount. The discount is valid for bookings made by January 31, 2018. Flights depart from Sydney or Melbourne, with connections available from other cities. Fares also include flights in South America, accommodation, 64 meals, touring, sightseeing, and the services of host and guides.
