A year of flying through the First Wing
British Airways has welcomed over 750,000 customers through its First Wing channel at Heathrow Terminal 5 since opening in April last year.
The First Wing, which is part of the airline’s £4.5bn investment for customers, is the airline’s exclusive check-in area for its First, Gold Executive Club and oneworld Emerald customers, which welcomes travellers through a dedicated security channel leading directly into the First lounge.
Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ director of brand and customer experience, said: “Since we opened The First Wing last year the feedback from customers has been incredibly positive. They really value the smooth and swift experience from check-in through security and into the lounge.
The introduction of the airline’s exclusive First Wing has also reduced the number of customers travelling through the normal security search areas, delivering a benefit to all fliers.
British Airways is also currently re-designing its Terminal 7 in New York, which will result in the introduction of a new and improved First Check-in area, drawing inspiration from The First Wing at Heathrow.
British Airways is investing £4.5 billion for customers over the next five years, including the installation of the best quality WiFi and power in every seat, fitting 128 long-haul aircraft with new interiors and taking delivery of 72 new aircraft. The airline is also investing £600m specifically in Club World, including outstanding catering and luxurious White Company bedding – plus, from 2019, a new seat with direct aisle access.
