Coral Expeditions offers private charters for clients to explore the coastal waters

While boasting a range of expeditions and itineraries year-round, Coral Expeditions, Australia’s pioneering expedition cruise line, is thrilled to offer travellers the opportunity to charter their own expeditions providing guests with personalised itineraries across the entire Coral Expeditions fleet.

Since 1984, Coral Expeditions has hosted private charters around the globe from special interest communities with immersive events to major corporations rewarding top performers with incentive travel packages. Alumni and historical associations from major institutions regularly embark on custom itineraries including reef research expeditions, visits to sites of maritime or historical significance, and observations of seasonal phenomena such as whale migrations or solar/lunar eclipses.

“A charter cruise is a wonderful way for clients and their invited guests to experience a customer-crafted expedition all their own,” said Mark Fifield, Group General Manager of Coral Expeditions. “The essence of Coral Expeditions has always been to take guests to very exotic and rarely seen corners of the globe and provide them with a deeply enriching and educational experience. I can’t think of a more appealing way to do that than with a private charter itinerary enjoyed alongside colleagues and friends.”

Coral Expeditions’ fleet of four ships fit the needs of any group:

Coral Expeditions I – Purpose built and fully equipped for cruising in Australian coastal waters, the classic Coral Expeditions I can accommodate up to 46 guests in all outside double cabins with en-suite facilities. At 115 feet length, this catamaran hulled vessel is outfitted with two fully stocked bars, a Sun Deck for gazing at panoramic views, an Observation Lounge, and a SCUBA and snorkeling department. An open bridge policy offers opportunity for guests to spend time with the Captain following the ship’s charts. With Zodiacs and the hydraulically operated Xplorer tender onboard, the ship needn’t dock for onshore outings and allows for easy access to remote destinations out of reach for traditional vessels.

Coral Expeditions II – Similar in style to the Coral Expeditions I, she is fully equipped for the extended voyages in the Great Barrier Reef. With a length of 115 feet with space for up to 42 guests, this vessel is ideal for accessing exclusive moorings on the outer Reef. Each room is dressed up with traditional maritime stylings, and all feature large picture windows for captivating views. The ship has two fully stocked bars, a Sun Deck for dining al fresco, an Observation Lounge, and SCUBA and snorkeling facilities. The open bridge policy offers opportunity to spend time with the Captain. The ship also boasts Zodiacs, a custom tender vessel and kayaks, as well as satellite wireless Internet.

Coral Discoverer – The elegant monohull Coral Discoverer was built in Australia to conduct expedition cruises across the world’s ocean. She has a capacity of 72 guests in 36 spacious cabins (minimum size: 18 sq m). All cabins have balconies or outside views and en-suite facilities. She currently operates in Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia. At 207 feet, the ship’s dimensions allow a feeling of space without compromising the shallow draught and maneuverability to enable exploration of areas larger vessels can’t access. The Xplorer tender can seat all 72 passengers for excursions to beaches and rivers and is outfitted with modern safety and navigation equipment as well as wireless Internet. Back on board, guests can relax in the Bridge Deck Lounge for interpretive lectures by guides, visit the Captain on the bridge, or enjoy a drink at any of the three fully stocked bars including the newly installed Explorers Bar on the Sun Deck. The ship is equipped with Rolls Royce active stabilizers to ensure comfortable cruising in open waters.

Coral Adventurer – New for April 2019, the Coral Adventurer is 308 feet long and is designed by Coral Expeditions to suit the style of extended expedition cruising. Accommodations for up to 120 guests are in 60 all-outside cabins with en-suite facilities. 32 cabins have private balconies. There are two indulgent suites of 590 square feet, each with large private balconies and bathes with panorama windows. Designed by Arkhefield, an Australian design firm, the Coral Adventurer features the tropical colors and textures of North Australia with extensive stone and timber fixtures. There is a passenger elevator and gym in addition to three bars and single seating dining adjacent to an ‘open’ kitchen. Two hydraulically operated Xplorer tenders seat all guests between them and facilitate comfortable shore excursions, while six Zodiacs allow for more intrepid exploration. A multi-purpose room hosts marine research missions or art exhibitions, and a curate wine cellar features boutique wines and exceptional vintage Australian reds. The Coral Adventurer has additional capacity to accommodate charter staff in comfortable single or double accommodations.

Coral Expedition charter rates include all meals, activities and interpretive shore excursions. Cuisine options can be tailored to the requirements of individual charters. Itineraries can also be customised as required.
