Downtown Eau Claire Wisconsin offers unparalleled cultural experience in the heart of the Midwest

Pete Bauchle, general manager of The Lismore Hotel Eau Claire – a DoubleTree by Hilton, 333 Gibson Street, Eau Claire, is proud to announce that The Lismore Hotel has officially joined as a stop on Sculpture Tour Eau Claire’s 2018 tour. Dedicated to providing free public art to and enhancing the quality of life in the community by promoting tourism, economic development and education, Sculpture Tour Eau Claire and The Lismore Hotel will highlight two sculptures on the hotel’s property: a stainless steel rhino and a new, abstract piece, which is scheduled for outdoor installation Wednesday, May 9, 2018.

“We are thrilled to take part in such an exciting and unique opportunity in the Eau Claire area,” said Pete Bauchle, general manager, The Lismore Hotel Eau Claire – a DoubleTree by Hilton. “As a centerpiece of downtown Eau Claire, our team is committed to positively impacting the community and encouraging growth and artistic expression. The Sculpture Tour Eau Claire is a wonderful organization that brings locals and visitors alike to many of Eau Claire’s most beautiful locations and we are happy to have two sculptures for guests to enjoy.”

Sculpture Tour Eau Claire is one of the largest tours of its type in the country and changes exhibit sculptures every spring, seeking to eliminate the socio-economic barriers associated with art and make art free and easy to access in the community. In the organization’s eighth season in Eau Claire with 52 sculptures set up on pedestals outside around downtown, The Lismore Hotel will be the only stop to feature two sculptures.

A contemporary piece called ‘Zinger’ by Georgia-native Gregory Johnson is being installed on the front lawn of the hotel’s property. Recognized as one of the best sculptors in the nation, Johnson has created hundreds of sculptures including veterans’ memorials, large abstract pieces and more over his 50+ year career. The second featured sculpture is a stainless steel rhino, created by Minnesota artist Dale Lewis. Standing at 3.5 feet high, 7 feet long and 2 feet wide and aptly named, The Rhino is an existing piece that currently sits in The Lismore Hotel’s lobby.
