Bloomington, Minnesota marches towards 10,000 hotel rooms
Bloomington, Minnesota announces significant hotel growth in the next 24 months, with nearly 750 rooms in four new hotels, increasing the total rooms to nearly 10,000. The growth comes on the heels of a successful Super Bowl LII in 2018 and Ryder Cup 2016. The city will also house NCAA Final Four attendees in April of 2019.
The projected opening of Tru, Hilton’s newest best value brand catering toward young professionals, and a connected Home2Suites is late 2018. This dual flag, 182-room hotel will be the first of its kind, and guests get to choose in which brand they lodge. Although this is the first Tru hotel in Minnesota, Home2Suites has an existing location in Bloomington.
Holiday Inn Express, is also opening in 2018 with 171-rooms. Two more hotels are planned to open in the next 24 months including a five-story, 164-room Cambria Suites in the South Loop and a nine-story, 214-room Drury Hotel by I-494 and France Avenue.
“We are excited about the continued growth of new and renovated hotels in our area,” said Dan O’Neill, vice president of Hospitality is Bloomington’s number #1 industry, with over 20,000 hospitality employees.
Other recent hotel openings include AC Hotel Mall of America, conveniently located just across the street from Mall of America, and Great Wolf Lodge Minnesota, with its huge indoor water park and an array of dining and entertainment options. Located next to the AC Hotel is the free-standing Hazelwood Food + Drink, a relaxed atmosphere restaurant with a wide variety of American fare and a bar featuring a large selection of wines, craft beer and specialty cocktails.
