Tourism Minister, Malarndirri McCarthy today met with a number of Aussie Specialist agents in Hong Kong ahead of a visit to the NT by some of the agents during October.
Representatives from Wing On Travel, Hong Thai, Jetour, Charming Holildays and Kuoni Travel met Minister McCarthy to discuss the Northern Territory as an emerging market for Hong Kong experience seekers and the potential for growth.
“The Territory Government is organising a familiarisation in the NT for five key Hong Kong agents in October 2011 for them to be able to market the product better after experiencing it,” Minister McCarthy said.
“Through Tourism NT we are working closely with Tourism Australia Hong Kong to be able to achieve a presence in this emerging market through key partnerships with agents, including training seminars and workshops.
“These famil’s also include a great contribution and involvement by the local Territory tourism industries that are instrumental in providing unique experiences to visitors to the Northern Territory.
The Aussie Specialist Program was created and is managed by Tourism Australia in cooperation with the Tourism NT. Aussie Specialists are a dedicated group of travel agents who are the frontline for selling Territory holidays.
Globally, there are over 23,000 registered agents across more than 110 countries including key markets such as the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, New Zealand, and Asia.
Tourism Australia promotes the qualified Aussie Specialists globally to consumers through marketing programs and directs consumers interested in travelling to Australia to these retail travel agents. The program also provides an opportunity for Australian tourism suppliers to educate the Aussie Specialist network on their product or service.
