Worldhotels affiliates in India and Malaysia scooped top honours in the 2012 Asia Pacific Hotel Awards, which recognise the highest levels of hotel construction and design, architecture, interior design and marketing.
One World Hotel Petaling Jaya was not only voted Best Convention Hotel in Malaysia but also Best Convention Hotel in Asia Pacific.
It became the first hotel in Malaysia to earn both Five Star Awards – and now competes against equivalent award winners in Europe, Africa, the Americas and Arabia in the 2012 International Hotel Awards.
“Our team, especially the Conventions & Events and Banquet Department, have been working very hard to offer superlative services. These awards are testament to their hard work and dedication,” said General Manager Ho Hoy Sum.
“To be able to represent Malaysia and the Asia Pacific on a worldwide stage in London in November has been one of the hotel’s greatest successes.”
Recently unveiling the world’s largest pillar-less clear-to-sky dome, cocooning a 55,000 sq ft tropical lagoon, India’s Hotel Sahara Star & Aamby Valley City bagged a hat trick of accolades.
Making its debut in the awards, the flagship masterpiece from Sahara India Pariwar collected the coveted Five Star Award for Best Convention Hotel in India – and was highly commended among India participants for Hotel Architecture and Hotel Interiors.
The new Mumbai landmark personifies the spirit of progressive India, blending Indian mysticism in an unmatched experience where hospitality meets entertainment.
“This recognition is an affirmation of our ongoing efforts and we will continue to deliver the ultimate fusion of hospitality,” said CEO Vivek Kumar.
As the regional round of the prestigious International Hotel Awards, the Asia Pacific Hotel Awards identify, highlight and reward hospitality excellence, focusing on services, sustainability, high accommodation standards, ergonomics, originality and creativity.
President of the International Hotel Awards, Stuart Shield, said: “We have been staggered by the response from the Asia Pacific in this second year of the specific Asia Pacific Hotel Awards.”
Among other honours for Worldhotels affiliates, multi-award winning Phuket 5-star resort Indigo Pearl was also voted as Thailand’s ‘Best Luxury Resort Spa’ at the 2012 World Luxury Spa Awards.
At one with nature, the spa’s signature treatment room is suspended mid-air, hanging from the branches of what is said to be Phuket’s oldest Banyan tree.
Indigo Pearl was additionally awarded the prestigious 2012 Certificate of Excellence by leading travel website Tripadvisor.
