Twenty years on and the magic is still strong at Disneyland Paris, France’s most visited theme park.
Offering guests the opportunity to escape from the ‘real world’, the anniversary has been welcomed with a range of new events including the spectacular light show every night during summer at Sleeping Beauty’s castle.
Not only does the show bring fire, light effects and sparkle to the Disneyland Paris sky, but it also projects some of the most loved Disney characters onto the castle in a dazzling feast for the eyes.
During the day, guests can enjoy Disney’s anniversary train and parade with fans offered the opportunity to journey backstage with Mickey Mouse for souvenir photos and a tour of his favourite props and costumes.
Extended opening hours means that there is even more time to enjoy all that the ‘happiest place on earth’ has to offer and, with the option of a ‘fast pass’, guests can easily skip the queues for the major attractions in both parks.

Walt Disney Studios
Offering a range of shows and rides that take you behind the scenes of Disney movies, Walt Disney Studios is broken up into four ‘lots’ that are designed to take the whole family ‘backstage’.
The grand entrance to the Studios will make guests feel like a star as they enter the ‘filming station’.
With live performances and cameras flashing, guests will get to see what it’s like to make a movie from the second they walk through the gates.
A great place to start for the little ones, with attractions including ‘Toy Story Playland’, ‘Flying Carpets over Agrabah’ and ‘Crush’s Coaster’.
Interesting Disney history and tricks of the trade will be taught at the ’Animagique’ and ‘Art of Disney Animation’ shows which lets guests try their hand at some of the classic animation techniques.
Special effects and stuntmen run rampant in the Backlot.
The ‘Armageddon Special Effects’ Show and the ‘ Stunt Show Spectacular’ showcase some of the most unbelievable stunts live, with the audience offered a behind-the-scenes look at how they are achieved.
The line, “don’t try this one at home kids,” will be heard time and time again in the Backlot!
‘The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror’ takes courageous guests on a heart-racing plunge down thirteen floors in a rustic hotel elevator while the more faint hearted can enjoy ‘Playhouse Disney Live’ and the ‘Studio Tram Tour’.
Disney Experience and Dining
Guests are given the opportunity to meet-and-greet with some of their favourite characters who may even offer up their autograph, although how they are able to sign them with such large hands remains a mystery to many!
Throughout the day parades and live-action scenes performed on the streets bring movie magic to life and a variety of themed restaurants and cafes ensure no one goes hungry.
The ‘Restaurant des Stars’ offers an extensive buffet with something for everyone including vegetarians who have quite limited options elsewhere in the Park.
With a little more action for the bigger kids, five different lands ensures that there is something for everyone and a whole new world to explore.
A great land for the kids, Fantasyland is filled with many attractions including the world-famous ‘It’s a Small World’ ride that takes guests on a journey around the world and through many different cultures.
Guests may want to have another song ready to go on their iPod afterwards however, as there is a very large chance that they will have the ride’s infamous theme song in their heads for the rest of the day!
Other attractions in this land include breezy rides such as ‘The Mad Hatter’s Teacups’, ‘Dumbo the Flying Elephant’ and ‘Peter Pan’s Flight’.
Fantasyland’s most popular attraction is still ‘Sleeping Beauty’s Castle’ however, which is spectacular both day and night.
Hearts will be racing here with a whole world dedicated to the wild west of America.
Screams of joy can be heard from the famous ‘Thunder Mountain’ as the train speeds down the slippery slope, while guests are encouraged to get their boot scootin’ on with a spot of line dancing at lunch time.
Pirates take the stage in Adventureland, with many a guest getting into the theme by donning eye patches and hooks.
With rides including the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, which actually inspired the popular movies starring Johnny Depp, there is plenty of booty to enjoy here.
Journey into outer space with amazing light shows and attractions including ‘Space Mountain: Mission 2’, which sends guests speeding through the galaxy.
‘Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast’ gives guests the chance to take down the evil Zurg in their very own Star Cruiser while fans of Star Wars get to enter the universe via a spaceflight stimulator in ‘Star Tours’.
Main Street, USA
Turning back the clock to the 1900’s, Main Street, USA offers guests the chance to explore the period and the land via ‘Horse-Drawn Streetcars’ or the ‘Disneyland Railroad’.
‘Discovery Arcade’ displays quirky inventions from the past and collector’s items for those after something special and oft unique.
Disney Experience and Dining
From meeting the characters to becoming the characters, Disneyland Park offers those younger Disney fans the chance to become a princess. Hair and make up artists primp and preen the little ones to make their day extra special.
The characters wandering the streets of Disneyland Park are a real treat, but if guests are after a more interactive and intimate experience, they have the option to actually dine with the characters in ‘Auberge de Cendrillon’ and the ‘Cowboy Cookout Barbecue’.
There is also a wide range of alternative dining options from fast food to table service because even princesses get hungry!
