An increase in Australian visitors to Tahiti confirms “the strength of the dollar is continuing to encourage Australians to head overseas”, according to Tahiti Tourisme Australia director Robert Thompson.
Tahiti Tourisme has reported a 26 percent increase in the number of Australian visitors to French Polynesia for the first half of the year, compared to the period in 2011.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed that French Polynesia experienced the largest growth in Australian travellers across all international destinations during the last financial year, rising 43 percent.
“We’re thrilled that Tahiti is one of their first choices for a well-deserved holiday,” Mr Thompson said.“Tahiti is paradise for all ages,” Mr Thompson added, revealing figures which show growth in visitors in the both the 65+ and under-14 age categories.
